Jolie's son treated in hospital
The adopted son of Hollywood film star Angelina Jolie was taken to a UK hospital after a mystery accident, it emerged today.
Ms Jolie, who plays cyberbabe Lara Croft, was filming the Tomb Raider sequel in Snowdonia when her 13-month-old son Maddox was injured.
The Cambodian-born baby was taken 90 miles to Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool by ambulance and treated there for three days.
A spokeswoman for the hospital refused to disclose details of Maddox’s injury but confirmed he arrived on Tuesday and was discharged yesterday.
She also confirmed that Ms Jolie, 27, had spent time at her son’s bedside and thanked hospital staff for their care.
A statement released by the hospital said: “Ms Jolie would like to extend her sincere thanks to all the staff at Alder Hey hospital for their care in looking after her son.”
Ms Jolie, who recently split from second husband Billy-Bob Thornton, adopted Maddox after visiting an orphanage in Cambodia.
The actress has spent the last week filming the Tomb Raider sequel, subtitled Cradle of Life, in Snowdonia.
The film is set in China but movie bosses were refused permission to film there by the Chinese authorities.
Instead they built a replica Chinese peasant village on the shores of Llyn Gwynant and will later digitally enhance the background.
