Animal lover Pink sees red

Pop star and animal lover Pink has been seeing red when she heard of ill-treatment of animals.

The singer took swift action when People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals told her the city of San Francisco had brought a lawsuit against American pet store chain Petco.

The legal action alleges cruelty to animals and claims that Petco places sick and dying animals in freezers.

Pink faxed a letter of complaint to the company’s CEO Brian Devine, saying she was disturbed by the lack of “regard for the well-being of the animals it peddles”.

Pink, who owns two rats and a dog, says she will ask her fans to boycott the store if Devine doesn’t act on “this disgraceful situation”.

A Petco spokesman tells People magazine that their employees love animals and are well-trained.

He says: “Any specific issues brought to our attention are dealt with immediately.”
