Matrix producer to launch new Reality TV show

America is to get a new TV reality show that will search for action film stars.

The Next Action Star is being made by Joel Silver, who has produced The Matrix and Lethal Weapon movies.

The series will follow producers as they search for potential male and female stars with "that indefinable 'it' factor."

The winners will star in a TV movie, currently titled Hit Me.

The series will begin with the producers travelling around America looking for potential stars. They will eventually be narrowed down to 12 finalists.

The contestants will then move to Hollywood, where they'll be given acting, training and combat lessons in addition to receiving "star treatment".

Contestants will be eliminated at the end of each episode after competing in a series of stunts.

"Uncovering new talent is a fascinating process and we are excited to share this experience with the public," Silver told www.variety.com.
