Christine and Rhona back from the jungle

Jungle veterans Christine Hamilton and Rhona Cameron were arriving back in Britain today after their survival stint in Australia.

The pair were touching down this morning to return to their normal lives after captivating 12 million viewers with their antics.

Fans saw a softer side of battleaxe Hamilton, while Cameron quickly managed to shake off her short-lived “Rhona The Moaner” nickname and avoid the ignominy of an early exit.

Eight celebrities were hoping to bid for the title of king or queen of the jungle by lasting a fortnight as viewers picked them off one by one.

Tony Blackburn was the eventual winner of I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! and arrived back in the UK yesterday, landing at Heathrow airport.

The 59-year-old DJ admitted: “It was very tough out there – tougher than I thought it was going to be, to be honest.”

The veteran broadcaster will today be back on air on Capital Gold.

Also arriving back today was Christine’s husband, former MP Neil Hamilton, whom she said she had enjoyed being away from for a short while.

Runner-up in the show Tara Palmer-Tomkinson had been expected back on Tuesday but did not actually arrive in London on the flight for which she was booked.

She is understood to have broken her journey to spend more time away. A friend said she was “safe and well”.
