Celebrity Survivor contestants forced to rebuild camp
The patience of the last three contestants in I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here was stretched to breaking point today when they returned from the day’s trial to find their camp had been dismantled.
A note had been left saying that Tony Blackburn, Christine Hamilton and Tara Palmer-Tompkinson must use all they had learned over the last 13 days to reassemble the camp.
The celebrities were not pleased. “Could have a sense of humour bypass on this one,” said Tony.
After undertaking the Underwater Treasure Hunt in the ITV1 show, they found their camp had been totally dismantled. The fire had been put out, logs taken away, and all their things packed up.
As they tried to rebuild the camp, there were problems lighting the fire, and mother of the camp Christine became bossy.
Tony was sent to find some wood and when he returned she tried to tell him - log expert extraordinaire - how to light the fire.
“The wood is wrong,” said Tony, “I’m sure of it. You are smothering the fire,” he told Christine.
As he got more upset he said: “I’m not going to do it unless you leave me to it.”
Christine took the hint and left the log man to it.
As Christine was trying to organise things and Tony to light the fire, Tara had lost her water bottle and “dad” Tony was concerned.
Tara revealed she hasn’t had the bottle for a week. “It keeps disappearing,” she said. “One minute it’s up in the tree, the next down the side of the bed.”
She went up the tree to look for it and started being silly pretending to be a monkey.
“Mum” and “dad” were not impressed.
Earlier the trio had discussed who would do today’s trial and decided that as Tara and Christine must do the Celebrity Chest, Tony would do the trial.
He asked if they would be annoyed if he did not get all three meals.
“Yes we’ll be livid,” says Tara, “I’m peckish today!”
Christine said: “But we’ll roast you instead. A little slice of posterior will be great – we’ll sautee it on the fire!”
A little later however, all three were called to trial. They were told to put on appropriate swimwear and rock boots and make their way to the bridge.
Tara put on her gold high heels and hat that she made for Nell McAndrew for last night’s fashion show instead, and they made their way to the bridge.
“Dad” Tony was concerned Tara would not be able to walk over the bridge in the shoes.
“I’ll be fine, it’s just a bit of fun,” she said.
For the Underwater Treasure Hunt, there were seven lunch boxes in and around a pool, three containing meals and the others booby prizes.
As Tony is not a strong swimmer, it was decided Christine would do the trial instead.
She must retrieve a box and then swim back to the rock to unlock it. They have 10 minutes.
She swam off energetically and managed to win two meals for the group. She didn’t have much luck and got all of the booby prize boxes.
Celebrity knowledge failed them in the Celebrity Chest.
Christine and Tara returned with the chest and read out the question: “Which British movie actress lost 53 pounds to regain her multi-million dollar figure following the birth of her son?”
They could not decide whether it was Catherine Zeta Jones or Liz Hurley. They took ages to decide but opted for Liz.
They opened the chest and had got it wrong - instead of the chocolates and wine they were desperate for, they had a picture of Christine and a picture of Tara’s dog, Wolfgang.
Earlier the three remaining celebrities discussed the departure of Nell, the fifth celebrity to be booted out by viewers.
They revealed that they had her down to win.
Tony said: “I feel amazed and delighted. Here for another day. I haven’t been parted from my logs. I’m going to celebrate - and put another log on!”
Tara said: “You have a couple of posh birds to look after now Tone.”
Discussing who could win, Tony had some inside information which he shared with the girls.
“It could be a girl or a boy.”
“No, you are on the cusp,” said Christine.
They discussed how Tara had proved the bookies wrong after they had her down as the first to go.
Tara said: “This is the first time in my life I’ve ever done quite well at something. I definitely feel as if I’m swimming beyond the barrier reef – I must say!”
Tara has emerged as favourite to be crowned queen of the jungle when the show concludes tomorrow (Sunday).
Odds were on Christine to be voted out tonight.
