British lads are 'all footie and beer' says Holly

Holly Valance says she might date a British man but only if they give up football and beer.

The Australian star has set up home in London after bowing out of Neighbours to pursue her singing career.

She was recently voted Woman of the Year at the GQ Awards.

Hollywood actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Heather Graham have both criticised British men for their lack of dating skills.

Valance, 19, told GQ: "I think I really prefer Australian boys anyway. I think the guys in Britain are far more laddish than the Aussie boys.

"They're all into footie and their beer, they get really off the rails. But who knows? I'm sure if I spend a long time in England, I might like an English boy."

Valance complained the pressures of fame have curtailed her going out.

"I can't go out and get drunk and puke everywhere like other 19-year-olds," she said.

"You're considered a bitch if you don't talk to 10 drunk strangers, and sign breasts and stuff. It's a pain, so I don't really bother going out."
