TV survivor's fiancee feels sorry for Tara
Darren Day’s fiancee said today she “feels sorry” for celebrity survivor contestant Tara Palmer-Tomkinson after the party girl tried to muscle in on her man.
And Adele Vellacott told GMTV she had not even discussed her would-be love rival when she spoke to Day after he was given the boot last night.
Tara had been making a play for Day during ITV1’s I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, but the pair soon fell out.
Musical star Day claimed he had received a series of notes in which the society girl said she wanted to have sex with him.
He told fellow contestants he received “two or three” a day, but last night changed his story to say he had a total of three, none of which he has yet produced.
Vellacott said today she was “not angry” about Tara’s advances.
“At the end of the day, it’s a game show and I think people are taking it far too seriously,” she said.
“There’s a war that might break out and people are being petty about little things like this.”
Asked about Tara, she said: “I really do just feel sorry for her, I really do. She’s obviously looking for someone to love her and she wants a lot of care and attention.”
Vellacott said she and Day – who has dated a string of celebrities including Anna Friel and Tracy Shaw – had no plans to marry but felt “secure” in the relationship. “We’re very happy together,” she said.
The pair spoke shortly after Day was given the boot live on TV after failing to win enough public support.
“We were so excited about talking about each other we didn’t really get time to talk about anyone else.
“It was just very exciting and it was all very ‘I love you, I love you’ on my part.”
Day was the third man in a row to be voted out of the camp in the Australian jungle, but said he was “relieved to get out of there”.
Another contestant will be evicted from the camp tonight.
