New movie too violent for my kids, says Hanks
Oscar-winner Tom Hanks says he’s not letting his young kids see his screen performance as a gun-toting mobster in Road to Perdition because it’s too violent.
“I told them, ‘You’ll see it later. When you’re older’,” Hanks said in an interview in Le Parisien newspaper. “I don’t joke around when it comes to raising my kids.”
The 46-year-old actor has two young sons Chester and Truman with his wife, the actress Rita Wilson and an older son and daughter from his first marriage.
In Road to Perdition he plays violent Mike Sullivan who works as a hit man for crime boss John Rooney played by Paul Newman.
After his son witnesses a killing, however, Sullivan finds himself on the run trying to escape from a hitman – played by Jude Law – who has been hired to kill him.
The film, which also stars Stanley Tucci and Jennifer Jason Leigh, opens in the UK later this month.
