Victoria Beckham has arrived in hospital with her husband David for the birth of their second child.

The former Spice Girl and the England captain have arrived at the exclusive Portland Hospital in London.

The private hospital, near Regent's Park, was where the 28-year-old singer gave birth to son Brooklyn by Caesarean section in March 1999.

The youngster, now three, is understood to be at the hospital, as are the parents of the couple, and Victoria's sister, Louise Adams.

A spokeswoman for Victoria said: "She came in this morning at about 7.30am. She's having a baby and we are waiting for news."

The singer's 27-year-old husband, who played in his club Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Wearside on Saturday, is at her side, she added.

The couple and their relatives are believed to have arrived in two cars with blacked out windows which pulled up outside the discreet rear entrance to the hospital this morning.

A pack of photographers, camera crews and reporters had already gathered at the hospital entrance in the hope of catching a glimpse of them.

Victoria, who could be in hospital for about three days, was unable to fly out to be with her husband for the latter stages of England's World Cup campaign this summer because of her pregnancy.
