Red Dragon will return to terror of Lambs: Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes says the new Hannibal Lecter movie will be more like Silence Of The Lambs than Hannibal.

Fiennes plays Francis Dolarhyde in Red Dragon, which is the latest movie to feature Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.

Speaking at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, he said the new movie has more "psychological terror" than the last.

Fiennes said: "I was quite sceptical when I first heard about the film but then I read the script and it was really good.

"I looked at the cast that was already in place, Edward Norton, Anthony Hopkins and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and I thought I wanted to be alongside that quality.

"I think the character in Red Dragon is similar to the one I played in Schindler's List, they both have similar paths. You have to enter into the way they see the world, which is weird and disturbing."

Fiennes' Edinburgh visit was to promote his new film Spider, directed by David Cronenberg.
