Sharon's cancer was like 'atomic bomb': Ozzy

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne today said being told his wife had cancer was like having an “atomic bomb detonated in my head.”

The former Black Sabbath frontman said he feels his “spirit’s dead” after Sharon Osbourne was diagnosed with the disease in July.

“I’m falling apart more than she is,” he said in an interview to be aired on Fox News channel in the United States tonight.

“People say to me ’Ozzy, you’ve got to be strong for Sharon.’ I’m not Superman,”

“I know she’s going to be alright, but there’s a little bad demon in my head going, “No she’s not.’

The 53-year-old added: “It’s like someone has taken my heart away.”

He said when he first heard the news he cried for three weeks.

“I think I’ve accepted it. But shares in Kleenex must have gone up tenfold.”

Sharon, 49, is currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer of the colon.

During surgery it emerged that the cancer may have spread beyond her colon, requiring further treatment.

Ozzy announced he would take three weeks off his summer Ozzfest roadshow when Sharon started her treatment, but soon found he was better off on the road.

“I want to be by my wife’s side like any loving husband. It lasted a week because I was getting on Sharon’s nerves.”

The second series of the Osbournes, which will feature Sharon’s treatment, is to be aired in the US this autumn.

The first series became the highest-rated series in MTV history, attracting as many as 10 million viewers per episode.
