Ex-Big Brother star Alex Sibley was brushed aside by Brylcreem as the hair-styling brand cut off talks aimed at hiring him for an advertising campaign.

Brylcreem said it had terminated the discussions because Alex’s recent deal with the Domestos bleach brand gave him the wrong image for its relaunch: too tidy, too clean, and not enough of a "bloke".

He has negotiated a £1m contract with Domestos to front its new TV ad campaign and his representatives had been in talks with Brylcreem even before he left the Big Brother house.
