Nigel Benn shaves head for celebrity edition of Survivor

Nigel Benn has shaved off his dreadlocks in preparation to appear on the celebrity edition of Survivor.

The former boxer turned DJ says he was petrified of insects crawling through them.

But he says he can get through the gruelling challenge by praying and reading his bible.

I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! will be broadcast live every night on ITV1 from Sunday August 25 at 8pm.

Also taking part are Christine Hamilton, Tony Blackburn, Rhona Cameron, Uri Geller, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Nell McAndrew.

Nigel says: "I may be worried about snakes and crocodiles but I will cope. I am having my hair cut because I don't want to go out there and have something living in my hair.

"All I have to do is keep praying to the Lord and reading my Bible and hopefully I will win this.

"Opportunities like this don't come around too often and so you have to grab them with both hands - I'm really looking forward to it.

"It also gives me the chance to help people who aren't as well off or have a disability. What you see is what you get with me. There is no pretence, I am what I am, I don't mince my words and I think the British public know what I'm like."
