Beckham car to be sold online

David Beckham fans have the chance to bid for a high-speed luxury car once owned by the England football star, it emerged today.

The 195mph TVR Cerbera - whose colour "crystal topaz" was chosen by Beckham’s wife Victoria - featured in the ITV Documentary The David Beckham Story in 2001.

Its current owner, Robert Parson, of Hampshire, bought it for £70,000 (€111,000) from Beckham in May 2001 and has now put it up for auction with internet auctioneer eBay.

"The lowest bid I’ll accept is around 60,000 US dollars and there have already been 6,000 hits on the website for it so it should fetch more than that," said Mr Parson.

"I’ve had people in Hong Kong talk of bidding 100,000 dollars it seems David Beckham has got quite a fan club out there."

Mr Parson changed the number plate from the one it originally came with due to the amount of attention it attracted.

"The original plate was Beckham’s W7 DVB, which stood for David, Victoria and Brooklyn," he said.

"It attracted an unbelievable amount of attention and was getting quite dangerous with people always cutting in front on the road."

The car, which has 11,800 miles on the clock, now has the number plate W8 TVR, but Mr Parson said it was often still recognised from the TV documentary.

It was built to personal specifications for Beckham in March 2000 and can rocket from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.

Other features include full magnolia leather interior with Royal blue stitching to match the body work, privacy glass, a six-CD stereo system taken from Beckham’s Porsche and an ice detector.

Fans have the chance to bid for the car on www.eBay.com.
