'I was born to love Danny' says newlywed Julia
Julia Roberts blushed with pride today as she told how she was ‘‘born to love’’ her new husband, cameramen Danny Moder.
‘‘He is formidable. He is a man among men, unselfish and all-encompassing,’’ The Runaway Bride actress said following the ceremony at her New Mexico ranch on July 4.
‘‘We will have a family in due course,’’ she told US TV station ABC in her first interview since the wedding.
‘‘I hope there are some people who agree that I have done some good, some kind things in my life, but to really, ultimately stand fully in a moment of realising that I was born to love and to be the wife of this man.’’
She insisted the midnight wedding was not kept secret, adding: ‘‘People just weren’t paying enough attention.’’
Roberts refused to reveal the special vows the couple composed and read to each other at the ceremony.
But she said the lovers were tattooed with each other’s initials, although these were done ‘‘a long time ago’’.
Roberts’s relationship with Moder began last year, following her break-up with actor Benjamin Bratt.
Bratt, who married actress Talisa Soto earlier this year, recently described the constant media intrusion during his four year romance with Roberts as like a mosquito that constantly buzzes in your ear at night.
Roberts, 35, said the attention was ‘‘frustrating’’, but that she slept well.
‘‘It sounds to me like Benjamin came up with more bad than good, but that he’s participating in that.
‘‘I figure he’s kind of making his choices, so, all the better because he was unhappy and he left and moved along and found happiness in a place where there aren’t any mosquitoes.’’
