Corrie Star's Grief
Corrie star Sue Nicholls has spoken of the anguish she suffered as she nursed her dying mother.
Sue would frequently record her scenes playing Audrey Roberts, and then make a dash from the Granada studios in Manchester to the family home 70 miles away, in Staffordshire.
"It was horrendously stressful," says Sue, 57. "And I felt very guilty for not giving up my job so that I could spend more time with her."
Sadly, her mother, Lady Harmar-Nicholls, died last year after suffering severe dementia for four years.
"It was the deterioration of her mind that was so upsetting," says Sue, whose father, a former Conservative MP, also died last year.
"It has been a very difficult time."
