Dublin Bus accused of Witnness rip-off
Dublin Bus is being accused of ripping off young people who took the bus to last weekend’s Witnness concert at Fairyhouse.
Regular tickets to that part of County Meath cost around €5.50 return. Dublin Bus charged more than €17 for the same return journey.
Vehicles were guaranteed to be packed to capacity, and most revellers had no option but to take the bus.
Colm O’Mongain of the National Youth council believes that the price wasn’t justified, even if the buses were running late into the evening.
"The Nightlink services runs outlying areas of the city," he said.
"And the charges for the Nightlink aren't justified on that level. So I don't see why they could be justified to the extent that they were being charged on the way out to Witnness."
He continued: "Trains are added on for people going to matches at Croke Park, and the people that are travelling don't have to pay any extra. We'd hope that the same consideration would be given to music fans."
