Wogan set for TV comeback

Limerick native Terry Wogan could return to a major TV role - a live weekday morning programme on Britain's Channel 5.

Sources at the station confirmed there had been discussions with the star, who used to have a BBC TV chat show running three nights a week.

He still does an award-winning show on Radio Two, and the Daily Mail says it's understood he would continue to present it, dashing off when it ends at 9.30am to do the show at Channel 5.

The newspaper claims the programme will be made by former Virgin Radio presenter Chris Evans, who has returned to Britain after spending a year holidaying with wife Billie Piper, and Gaby Roslin, would be Wogan's presenting partner.

The Channel 5 sources says the talks were at a very early stage and no deal had been signed but Evans, Wogan, and Roslin were all involved in the possible project.

A spokesman for the channel would say only: "We never discuss any potential productions or signings."

A BBC spokesman said: "Neither Terry Wogan nor Gaby Roslin has an exclusive contract with the BBC."

Neither Evans nor Wogan was available for comment.
