Bond director: Brosnan saved Bond

New Zealander Lee Tamahori has high praise for Meathman Pierce Brosnan - he reckons he saved the Bond series.

Lee is currently directing the making of Die Another Day, the latest 007 adventure, and he says: "I lost interest in Bond during the Roger Moore years, as a lot of us did, when it got a bit hokey.

"Timothy Dalton was OK, but it was when Pierce Brosnan came along that Bond got re-enlivened in a really fantastic way. Instead of a smooth, suave sophisticate, this was now a new M16, SAS assassin-type Bond."
