Simpsons creator to choose bands for music festival

Simpsons creator Matt Groening is set to curate an American music festival.

The animator will reportedly programme next year's All Tomorrow's Parties event in Los Angeles.

He would be the first non-musician to take the role.

Groening is a former rock critic, and has invited several bands to appear on The Simpsons, including Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins and The Ramones.

All Tomorrow's Parties was formed in Britain to showcase an eclectic range of cutting-edge rock bands.

It hosted its first US event this year.
