MIB2 'not as good as original' say US critics
US critics say Men in Black 2 is not as good as the original.
The sequel had a mixed reaction when it hit American cinemas today.
Many critics say the chemistry between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones is not as convincing as in the first film.
The Northwest Herald says: "The sequel dearly misses the jauntiness."
And Variety said it was an "elaborate, sporadically amusing but awfully lightweight follow up".
The film is expected to beat the opening of the original which took $8.4m in its opening week in the US.
The original also opened on a Wednesday and film producers hoped they would repeat their luck by releasing the sequel on the same day.
But critics don't know if the film how the film will fare compared to other recent blockbusters.
Filmcritic says it's "harmless, forgettable, and simply uninteresting in comparison to recent action flicks like Spider-Man and Minority Report."
The film sees agents Kay and Jay re-united to fight an alien disguised as a lingerie model, played by Twin Peaks star Lara Flynn Boyle.
