Reality TV rock star wife has cancer

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne’s wife has been diagnosed with cancer, it was reported today.

Sharon Osbourne, who starred alongside her husband in the reality TV show filmed at their Los Angeles home, is to undergo surgery for a treatable form of the disease, a family spokeswoman said.

‘‘The family is together. They will be with her through her surgery and recovery.’’

The wife and manager of the former Black Sabbath frontman only recently learned she had cancer but was in good spirits, the spokeswoman told the New York Daily News.

She did not comment on what type of cancer, but said doctors had given her a good prognosis.

The first two dates of the American Ozzfest, which were due to have taken place this weekend, have been postponed.

Sharon Osbourne became a household name in the US following the launch of the MTV reality programme chronicling her family home life earlier this year.

The Osbournes became one of the most popular shows on American TV and was regularly watched by six million people.

During filming, the family allowed cameras access to their Beverly Hills mansion for six days a week, with only the master bedroom and bathrooms declared off limits.

Sharon was shown hurling food at neighbours following an argument over noise, and organising family meetings aimed at curbing the couple’s two teenage children’s non-stop partying.
