Aniston settles privacy case

Jennifer Aniston has settled her privacy case against two magazines that published photographs of her sunbathing topless.

The Friends star was photographed in her back yard.

Aniston and her husband Brad Pitt were in court in Los Angeles for the announcement, but left without speaking to reporters.

There were no details given of the settlement.

"We have perfected a settlement that's confidential... this matter has been resolved," Judge Ronald Lew said.

Aniston claimed a paparazzi photographer scaled a neighbour's wall and snapped photos of her "reclining topless in her back yard, wearing only her panties".

The case was filed in August 2000 against Man's World Publications Inc and Crescent Publishing Group, demanding unspecified damages.

Aniston's lawyer Jay Lavely says the 33-year-old actress was prepared to testify.

Aniston has had judgments in her favour and settled claims with other US and European magazines that published the picture.

The photograph appeared in European magazines before being circulated in 1999 in Celebrity Skin and High Society in the US. The defendants argued the photos were newsworthy.
