Bob Geldof and Luciano Pavarotti are to receive special honours at the European music industry awards.

The fourth IFPI Platinum Europe Awards will be held at the Hotel Le Plaza in Brussels on July 10.

Blue will be performing live on the night along with a host of European bands, including Finnish dance group Bomfunk MCs.

The ceremony will be hosted by French musician and composer Jean Michel Jarre, with Neil Kinnock presenting the awards.

Kinnock, who is Vice-President of the European Commission, said: "As an avid follower of music, I look forward to taking part once again in this celebration of the creativity and diversity of European musical talent."

Luciano Pavarotti will be presented with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Bob Geldof will receive an award for his Exceptional Contribution To Music.

Texas will receive a Platinum award for selling a million records in Europe.
