TV star makes UK theatre debut
A leading star from the hit television show Ally McBeal is to make her UK stage debut at one of the world’s biggest arts festivals, it emerged today.
Blonde Jane Krakowski, who plays man-hungry Elaine Vassal in the Channel 4 legal drama, will perform at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.
The 33-year-old will appear in the European premiere of a comedy called Fuddy Meers next month.
Krakowski will star as an amnesiac who, attempting to regain her memory, embarks on a crazy, roller-coaster journey of self-discovery.
The play, written by acclaimed playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, will be brought to the stage by director Stephen Henry, whose controversial production of Corpus Christi was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1999.
Krakowski has appeared on Broadway in the original cast of Once Upon A Mattress, as well as featuring in Starlight Express.
The US actress has also appeared alongside Liza Minnelli in the film Stepping Out, and with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas in Fatal Attraction.
The play will run from July 31 to August 26.
