The Stone Roses, who shone briefly but brightly, have beaten The Beatles to the top in a poll of the top albums of the past 50 years.

The Stone Roses, who shone briefly but brightly, have beaten The Beatles to the top in a poll of the top albums of the past 50 years.

The now disbanded Mancunian act headed the list with their eponymous debut release, The Stone Roses, which impressed listeners of BBC digital station 6 Music.
