Spielberg, Cruise, Paltrow film cameos for Austin Powers

Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow make guest appearances in Austin Powers In Goldmember.

Spielberg says Mike Myers brought a scene over for him to read, asking if he'd be interested.

"I read it and thought it was hysterical," Spielberg said in interviews for his upcoming sci-fi collaboration with Tom Cruise, Minority Report.

"I normally wouldn't say yes, but Mike's a very close friend of mine, and the scene was really funny.

"He also had written a part for Gwyneth Paltrow, who's like one of my kids. I knew Gwynnie before she was born.

"I sent the pages to Tom and Gwynnie and they both agreed to do it."

Cruise said it was only a few hours of shooting that turned out to be "a blast".

Austin Powers In Goldmember opens in the United States and the UK on July 26.
