Alex, Alison and Sandy were today nominated for eviction from the Big Brother house as bookmakers slashed odds on Spencer to win the £70,000 (€108,665) prize.

The three housemates were informed of their inclusion on the shortlist for the boot this afternoon.

Members of the public will now vote off one of the contestants to follow in the footsteps of mature student Lynne, 36, from Aberdeen, who left last Friday.

One hopeful, trainee barrister Sunita, from Brixton, south London, has already walked out, claiming her on-screen antics could affect her career.

She also claimed to be claustrophobic and that she had little in common with the other housemates.

Alex, 23, is a half-German male model from Essex, while Alison, 27, is a cinema team leader from Birmingham.

Sandy, 43, lives in London and is a women’s personal shopper.

Graham Sharpe of bookmakers William Hill said a massive flutter on Spencer, the 22-year-old ski shop assistant and part-time punt operator from Cambridge, had seen his odds slashed from 8/1 to 4/6 favourite.

‘‘This is an unprecedented gamble at this stage of the contest and easily the biggest gamble yet in any of the three series,’’ he said.

‘‘We have taken a string of three-figure bets for him, and even at 4/6, punters are still anxious to back him.’’

The current odds are: Johnny 100/30 second favourite; 15/2 former favourite Kate; 9/1 on newcomer Sophie; 14/1 Adele and Jade; 20/1 Alison; 22/1 PJ; 33/1 Lee; 50/1 Alex and Sandy.
