Titchmarsh and Kylie 'our ideal picnic partners'
More women would prefer to have a picnic with Alan Titchmarsh than England captain David Beckham, according to a new survey.
But his Groundforce co-star Charlie Dimmock was pushed into second place among male voters - who opted for pop star Kylie Minogue instead.
The results are contained in a survey of 1,000 adults carried out for supermarket chain Safeway.
It showed that 35% of female voters would prefer to share a picnic with Alan Titchmarsh.
David Beckham collected 20% of the votes among females in the poll. Jonathan Ross came third, Hugh Grant fourth and Gareth Gates fifth.
Titchmarsh says coming top of the list is "very flattering".
He added: "I'd love to take Dame Judi Dench on my ideal picnic which would be eating smoked salmon and quail's eggs and drinking chilled Sauvignon on a gondola in Venice."
Among male voters, Kylie received 37% of the votes, followed by Charlie Dimmock and TV chef Nigella Lawson both with 19%, pop star Britney Spears 15%, and TV presenter Carole Smillie 10%.
