A Big Brother fan has discovered that one of the contestants is the father she has not seen for 11 years, it was reported today.
Amy Cumming, 17, claims she was told by her mother three days into the show that she was the daughter of Scot Sandy Cumming, 43, who entered the house wearing a kilt.
Student Amy, from Orpington in Kent, reportedly said she felt physically sick when she learnt that the former soldier, who says he is now a personal shopper and stylist, was her father.
But at the same time the confused teenager said she also wanted a ‘‘cuddle’’ from her dad.
She told the Express: ‘‘My mum saw me watching the show so she decided to tell me because she knew I would find out eventually.
‘‘She just blurted it out to me, ‘Amy, that’s your dad’, I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say.’’
Amy is reported to have said that Sandy had been one of her favourites in the house until she found out who he was, but her mother’s revelation left her confused.
‘‘I couldn’t believe it when mum told me. I’d been watching since the house mates arrived on Friday and really enjoyed the show,’’ she told the Sun newspaper.
‘‘I thought Sandy was a bit different when Big Brother started, yet I’d grown to like him. But I’m heartbroken now I know who he is.’’
Amy’s mother Yasmin, 46, married Sandy in 1982 but they split up and finally divorced in 1992.
Amy claims she last saw her father when she was six and before watching him on television was not worried about never having met him.
At one point during the show Sandy told the other Big Brother contestants that he was a dad and had lost touch with his child.
He said he now lives with his wife of eight years in London and described himself before entering the house as, ‘‘43 going on 16’’.
