Elton switches Cork date

Elton John's concert set for Cork has been shelved and will now be performed in Killarney, it was announced today.

Elton had been due to perform at Cork's Pairc Ui Chaoimh on July 7.

The concert will now take place at the Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, on the same date.

Tickets for the original concert are still valid.

The concert would have been the first major stadium concert in Cork for some time.

Tickets already sold for the original concert are still valid.

Meanwhile Elton is to donate the proceeds of a German concert to the victims of the Erfurt school massacre.

The singer will perform in Erfurt on June 16.

Elton said he wanted to show solidarity with the people of Erfurt after the shootings at the Johann Gutenberg High School.
