Lulu’s son Jordan Frieda has landed a role playing Prince William in a new movie to be filmed in Ireland and the US, it emerged today.

The 24-year-old actor triumphed against hundreds of other Will wannabes to land the starring role in the US production.

The delighted star said: ‘‘It’s very early days, but I just hope I can do it.’’

Filming is due to take place in the US and Ireland and the movie is understood to begin with the death of Diana, Princess Of Wales in 1997.

In an interview with US TV show Good Morning America, he said he realised there would be some criticism of taking such a part.

‘‘Hopefully, there’ll be a little bit - I mean, you’d be disappointed if there was no response,’’ said Frieda.

‘‘But I think it will be well taken, knowing what we’re going to do.’’

The Cambridge-educated actor, who has appeared in children’s ITV show 24Seven, added: ‘‘You don’t want to make it too caricatured.

‘‘The interest is going to be, you know, no-one knows what this incredibly well-known, high-profile guy is like when he’s just drinking his coffee or, you know, hanging out with his mates, and that’s what this is all about.

‘‘You’ve got to find that kind of naturalness and ease of manner.

‘‘I think the key is that we’re trying to fill in some gaps and actually take a guess at what he might actually be like in private. So that’s really a question for the imagination more than anything else.’’
