Kylie eats oysters to boost on-stage energy
Kylie Minogue has revealed she eats oysters to boost her on-stage energy.
She tucks into them when she slips off for costume changes during her draining two-hour shows.
Her voice coach, ex-opera singer Ron Anderson, recommended she should keep up her energy levels by eating the shellfish as she comes off the stage.
Each night Kylie tries to trim down the length of time her quick change routines take with a current record of just 45 seconds.
Her mother Carol, who is part of the wardrobe team on tour, is waiting with a few oysters as Kylie rushes to put on her next outfit. The singer has them brought in fresh for each show.
A spokesman for Kylie said: "On the last tour, Ron advised her to get a protein fix during the performance by nibbling small pieces of chicken.
"But it's quite hard to swallow chicken quickly as it's so dry, so this time Ron said she should eat oysters during the show.
"With a spectacular show that's cost so much to stage, the tour budget can definitely stretch to a dozen oysters a night."
The 33-year-old singer is half way through her sell-out UK shows, which see her joined by 12 dancers and 100 crew. Each night of the £4 million tour she has to make nine costume changes.
Oysters are known as a valuable source of iron, with nearly three times as much as most meats, and they are the richest source of zinc.
