Tara: Hollywood's not for me

One of Britain’s most successful actresses today explained why she had turned her back on Hollywood.

Tara Fitzgerald, 34, said she had ‘‘never felt comfortable’’ about taking a job in the world’s film capital.

Fitzgerald, star of Brassed Off and Sirens, said she had had many offers from Hollywood but had never found the right script and had yet to see a major blockbuster in which she would have liked to appear.

She was at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambs, as part of a national promotional tour to publicise her new film Dark Blue World.

The film tells the story of two Czech pilots who escape Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia and reach England where they join the Royal Air Force and take part in the Battle of Britain.
