A poignant message from pop star Kylie Minogue was among the tributes paid today at the funeral of BBC presenter Christopher Price.

The singer sent flowers to the service for the 34-year-old host of entertainment show Liquid News, who was found dead at his home just over two weeks ago.

A note attached to the arrangement of red and pink blooms read: ‘‘Dear Chris, I am an absolute fan and am so happy to have met you.

‘‘I was very much looking forward to seeing you again, in fact I still am. With much love and a big hug, Kylie.’’

Kylie, who had been a guest on the BBC Choice programme, is currently on tour so was unable to attend the service at the Brompton Oratory in South Kensington, central London.

Among the mourners was TV star and former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney, who was due to co-host BBC Choice’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest with Price later this month.

Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, Royle Family star Ralf Little, comedienne Jenny Eclair and presenter Claudia Winkleman were also there.

Price’s coffin, bedecked with white lilies, was carried into the church by six pallbearers.

In contrast to the presenter’s often exuberant style, the Catholic mass was a sombre occasion with traditional hymns and requiems sung by the oratory choir.

Price was one of the BBC’s brightest stars after turning the late night Liquid News show into cult viewing, and had been earmarked for a number of other projects.

He was found dead at his London home by colleague and close friend Robert Nisbet after failing to turn up for work.

Forensic tests are still being carried out to determine the exact cause of death but police have ruled out suspicious circumstances.
