Beckinsale gets her teeth into vampire role

British actress Kate Beckinsale will transform herself into a vampire for a new movie, it was reported today.

The 29-year-old star of Pearl Harbour and Serendipity plays the lead role of vampire Selene in action film Underworld, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Underworld is described as a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story set in the world of vampires and werewolves.

One of the star-crossed lovers (Beckinsale) is a vampire while the other is a werewolf.

Beckinsale’s character is a warrior with the strength of 10 men who lives in the time of a bloodthirsty war between vampires and werewolves.

Selene is supposed to kill werewolves but she ends up falling in love with one.

Beckinsale is currently shooting independent film Tiptoes with Matthew McConaughey and Gary Oldman and next stars in Laurel Canyon with Christian Bale and Frances McDormand.
