'Toy Story' named Disney's best film

Toy Story has beaten traditional cartoon classics to be named the top Disney film of all time, according to a new poll published today.

Its space age star Buzz Lightyear topped the list for favourite Disney hero while his arch rival Woody came second.

Cruella De Vil was voted favourite villain for her wicked puppy-snatching plot in 101 Dalmatians, closely followed by Peter Pan’s Captain Hook.

The poll of 4,000 Disney fans revealed that modern movies are just as popular as the older ones.

The Jungle Book was in second place followed by Toy Story 2, last year’s smash hit Monsters Inc and The Lion King.

Classics such as Bambi and Lady and the Tramp also did well - but there was no place in the poll for Dumbo or Fantasia.

The survey was carried out by the BBC to mark the launch of Disney Girl and Disney’s Comic, two new magazines aimed at pre-teens.
