Stars have begun arriving at London's Theatre Royal for the British Academy Television Awards.

Ant and Dec turned up with their respective girlfriends.

From EastEnders were Alex Fern and Kacey Ainsworth, alias Trevor and Little Mo, and Lucy Benjamin, who plays Lisa Shaw.

Among those grabbing the most attention were Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall, Cat Deeley, Tracy Shaw, Joan Collins and Claire Sweeney.

Cattrall wowed the crowd with a Maria Grachvogel dress which she said was a "spontaneous" purchase.

Coronation Street's Shaw wore a purple catsuit, while ex-SMTV host Deeley arrived in a black lycra dress.

Former Brookside star Sweeney turned up in a green lace dress.

Cold Feet's James Nesbitt and his co-stars Helen Baxendale and Fay Ripley were also there as the drama has been nominated for best drama series.

Other celebrities arriving included Pop Idol judges Pete Waterman and Dr Neil Fox, members of the Hollyoaks cast, TV presenter Tricia and Inspector Morse star Kevin Whately.
