Beckham poses in baby oil and nail varnish

David Beckham is to be shown bare-chested and covered in baby oil in a new magazine photoshoot.

He also wears black nail varnish and shows off a new hairstyle for the special edition of GQ.

Beckham's radical look is on the front of the magazine's 20-page World Cup supplement in its June issue.

GQ's editor, Dylan Jones tells the UK Press Gazette: "The shoot is really cutting edge and he has got a very particular hair style. He looks like David Bowie as the Thin White Duke."

The GQ edition includes an interview with Beckham by Elton John's partner David Furnish.

Beckham talks about Manchester United, England, his family, aspirations, his fashion and business sense.

"There are definitely aspects in there about his relations with Manchester United. It is very explicit," said Jones.

"He talked a lot about Alex Ferguson, Victoria and his future."

Victoria attended the photo shoot, which took place in Manchester, and they both helped choose the pictures used in the magazine.

The supplement includes a number of new pictures of Beckham as well as other members of the England squad modelling the team's new suits.
