Nickelback topple Gareth from Irish top spot

Nickelback have ended Gareth Gates' run at the top of the Irish singles chart.

The Pop Idol runner-up held the top spot for three weeks in Ireland.

But he has now been replaced by the Canadian band with their single How You Remind Me.

Gareth's Unchained Melody has dropped to number three, with Whenever Wherever by Shakira a non-mover at number two.

The highest new entry is One Step Too Far by Faithless featuring Dido in at number eight.

The Strokes debut at 10 with Hard To Explain.

Lazy by X-Press featuring David Byrne is another new entry at 23, www.2fm.ie reports.
