EastEnders star bombarded with letters from abuse victims
EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth says she gets hundreds of letters a week from abuse victims.
Her character Little Mo is awaiting a verdict in her trial for the attempted murder of husband Trevor.
But she says she wants to remain an actress rather become a campaigner for battered wives.
"A lot of the letters are anonymous and don't want anything back," Kacey told the Daily Express Saturday magazine.
"They just write saying 'It's spot on' or they'll say 'That was me 25 years ago and I got out.'"
Kacey has turned down requests to open refuge centres.
"I am an actress, not a spokesperson of domestic violence, but I know that charities have said how well the issue has been handled by EastEnders and that it's really helped to raise the issue of domestic violence in the UK."
