Mel C called to testify in stalker trial

A judge has called for Mel C to testify over allegations she was stalked by a Dutch man.

The man admits sending the Spice Girl letters containing blood and sperm, car components and the contents of a vacuum cleaner, between June and October last year.

The 36 year old also sent her pornographic pictures, videos and insulting messages.

According to the Utrecht judge the unnamed man threatened to kill the singer.

Once he came to meet her in London to offer her a package.

The man's solicitor said his client had no intentions of harming Mel C.

"He only dreamed of sharing a happy life with her," René Zilver said.

"Love fantasies have pushed him to this deviating behaviour."

The judge has freed the man on condition he doesn't phone the singer, send her packages nor come near her.

He also has to see a psychiatrist.

An investigating magistrate will travel to London in the next few months to question Mel C.

As soon as Sporty Spice has been heard as a witness, the court of Utrecht will proceed with the trial.
