Pop Idol Rik to go on six-month TV diet

Rik Waller is to take part in a celebrity version of the TV slimming show Fat Club.

The Pop Idol finalist will be among the stars trying to lose weight over six months for the ITV programme.

Tommy Walsh from Ground Force will also take part.

Rik, who weighs 20 stone, told The Sun: "I've been keen to lose weight for some time and this is the perfect opportunity.

"It'll be tough but I'm determined to finish to get to the end of the show."

Other celebrities lined up for the show will be revealed later this week.

They are thought to include Lisa Riley and Jono Coleman.
