Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona was today named celebrity mother of the year.
The 21-year-old star beat other stars including Kate Winslet, Davina McCall, Victoria Beckham and Cherie Blair to win the award.
Kerry, who was presented with a ‘‘super mum’’ teddy bear at a ceremony in London, gave birth to baby Molly last September. She is married to Westlife singer Bryan McFadden.
Speaking about the award, which comes ahead of Mother’s Day this weekend, she said: ‘‘It means so much to me. All I’ve ever wanted to be is a mum and have my own family.
‘‘To get an award for it is amazing. I’m also delighted to be able to donate 50 bears from Bluefootbear.com (the award’s sponsor) to a children’s charity of my choice which will be the NSPCC.’’
Kerry, who follows former Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh as a winner, gave birth to Molly in Dublin’s Mount Carmel Hospital just six days before her 21st birthday and described the experience as ‘‘the most beautiful thing’’.
The couple have been reported as saying that they are hoping for another child soon.
Meanwhile, another Atomic Kitten, Natasha Hamilton, is four months pregnant.
