Collins raves over 'honeymoon heaven'

Actress Joan Collins today laughed off the age difference between her and new husband Percy Gibson and quipped: ‘‘If he dies, he dies.’’

The 68-year-old star told how she is enjoying married life after spending a fortnight on a paradise honeymoon.

But she told GMTV she had no plans to slow down: ‘‘I love putting my feet up and enjoying my new married life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t work as well.’’

The pair have spent the past two weeks on the Malaysian island of Pangkor Laut.

‘‘We had our own private island - our own beach, our own swimming pool, three people to wait on us hand and foot and the most incredible water - completely unpolluted, completely blue and warm - and just utter heaven,’’ Collins said.

‘‘I read five books, I wrote an article. He went on all kinds of jungle walks, then on kayaks and all those kinds of things that guys do, where I just said ‘have a nice time - I’m just reading my Dean Koontz’.

Collins married Gibson, a US-based Peruvian whom she described as ‘‘gorgeous’’, at a private ceremony attended by close friends in a London hotel last month

Speaking about their relationship, she said today: ‘‘He was a really good friend of mine for about 10 months. One day that turned into a different situation.’’

Collins said they made each other laugh and are ‘‘on the same wavelength about everything apart from politics, which is fine - he’s to the left and I’m to the right.’’

She shrugged off the age gap: ‘‘It’s so boring. Look, I’ll tell you about the age thing - if he dies, he dies.’’

The actress - currently promoting her new novel Star Quality - said they may make their base in New York, but said she loved to keep on the move.

‘‘We both love New York. He’s my Latin from Manhattan and so I think we might move over there for a while, but I’m the sort of person who doesn’t like to stay in one place a lot.’’

She added: ‘‘Home will be wherever it is that we’re working.
