EastEnders character Janine Butcher is to turn to prostitution to help pay her drug dealer.

She loses her job and her home when Terry Raymond throws her out in the BBC1 soap next week.

Actress Charlie Brooks says she is delighted to be involved in such a big storyline.

Charlie says Janine has got herself into an horrendous situation.

She tells Inside Soap magazine: "Janine is a resourceful girl but this time I think she has come up against a brick wall - she's at her lowest point and she doesn't have anyone who will take her in.

"I think even the hardest of hearts will feel for Janine, although she certainly hasn't helped herself."

Charlie added: "With Janine's current troubles, I've had loads of big scenes and long days on set. As an actress I like to get my teeth into my work and with this storyline I've felt really fulfilled.

"Every week Janine gets worse and worse. You want to see the clothes they've got me in at the moment, they're awful.

"I should really go on a diet because Janine's supposed to be looking pretty dishevelled and hungry, but I love food too much - they'll have to do it with make-up."
