Westlife notch up tenth number one

Westlife have beaten Kylie Minogue to the top of the charts by notching up their 10th number one.

Kylie may have triumphed at the Brit awards this week but her single In Your Eyes was no match for Westlife's World Of Our Own, entering the chart at number three.

The band now join the likes of Madonna, who has also clocked up 10 number ones, although hers were over 18 years.

However, they have a long way to go to beat The Beatles' run of 17 number one hits.

They dislodged Spanish crooner Enrique Iglesias from the top spot with his single Hero slipping to number two.

Victoria Beckham may have a lot to celebrate this week with news she is expecting her second child, but there was more bad news for her solo career.

Her single A Mind Of Its Own charted at number six last week but is now languishing at number 17 after crashing out of the top 10.

The Brits have had their customary effect on album sales, with offerings from winners Dido and Kylie shooting back up the charts.

No Angel, which picked up the Best British Album award for Dido, shot up from number nine to number two, while Kylie's Fever - named Best International Album - rose from number eight to number four.

Top of the album charts is The Very Best Of Sting and The Police, which went straight in at number one following Sting's Outstanding Contribution award at Wednesday night's bash.
