New record deal for Rod Stewart
Rock legend Rod Stewart has signed a new deal after being without a label for weeks.
The singer split with Warner Music late last year after a 26-year association.
But he has now been signed by by J Records in a worldwide deal for several new albums, with the first out in October.
J Records is headed by former Arista Records boss Clive Davis, whom Stewart was keen to work with.
The singer said: ‘‘It’s a dream come true working with Clive. I’m over the moon about the whole thing.’’
Stewart - who undertakes a European tour this summer - suffered poor sales for his last album, Human.
Soul star Luther Vandross has seen his career revitalised since joining J Records.
