I thought I was second - Pop Idol winner Will
Will Young was voted Britain's Pop Idol last night and has already given his first interview as a pop star.
He was joined backstage by his father, show hosts and the judging panel after the Pop Idol final.
He revealed how when he first heard the percentages he was sure he was second.
He said: "I thought I am second and I have lost by that much.
"I promise, I just thought, 'Oh well, that's not bad', I promise that's what I thought.
"And then they said it and I just, I don't know, I felt really isolated. I stepped backwards. I could not believe it."
Will received 4.6 million - 53.1% - of the 8.7 millon votes cast.
The grinning winner says he is looking forward to working with judge Simon Cowell, who he had stood up to earlier in the series.
He added: "I am really ready for it now. I am just up for it massively, in a huge way," before letting out an emotional roar.
