The Who star slates Pop Idol judge
Roger Daltrey says Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell "epitomises everything wrong" with the music business.
He says he hates what Pop Idol has done to the business.
The Who star says rock and roll should be about "anger and angst" rather than singing note perfect.
Daltrey says Cowell is a "dreadful piece of c**p who drags the music business down whenever he rears his ugly head.
"He epitomises everything wrong with the business. Pop stars today have no longevity. Rock and roll is not about singing perfect notes or being a showbiz personality. It's about the anger and the angst. I hate what Pop Idol has done to the business."
Daltrey said Cowell's "manufacturing" of the music business might eventually do some good.
He told a British newspaper: "That dreadful Cowell has done some good - since something wonderful can only come out of the other end - like the Sex Pistols did."
